Thanks to everyone (ok well two at the time of writing) for the positive feedback on Part 1 of this series, now its time for Part 2!
We’re going to pick up from where we left off by creating our Lync topology in the Topology builder tool and take things from there:
- Create Topology
- Merge 2007 Topology
- “Bootstrap” Lync server
- Install Lync components
- Certificates
- Configure Admin URL
Here is the link to the MS KB for Lync on a 2008 R2 SP1 machine & this PowerShell script might be a slightly quicker way to install your IIS pre-requisites (I’ve not used it myself).
Apologies for the rather loud breathing noises at some parts, its not intentional & proved rather difficult to remove so tough!
Thanks for your time & see you around for part 3…?
Ben.
So far so good. I’ve watched part 1 and 2 so far. I’m doing an upgrade this weekend from OCS 2007 to Lync 2010 using basically just Standard Edition servers so this is spot on. We have 5,000 users so it’s important I get this right. Very helpful to see the upgrade in action rather than just read about it and see screenshots on Technet. Thanks again!
Excellent, wish you had one for edge server and tmg reverse proxy setup.
